FLORA HILL OF NONGKOJAJAR

Flora Hill of Nongkojajar is also known as Bukit Flora Nongkojajar, which located in Nongkojajar – Pasuruan, East Java. Flora Hill has often visited by students who having learned about flora or just want to have out bond activity. It provides with some facilities, such as; flower and fruit garden, coffee garden, playground, radio, tape, sound system, and out bond guide.

Otherwise, the out bond activities also completed with some interesting facilities, including; slide down, military game, bear stairs, pull body, and the other interesting games.

Flora Hill is also suitable for having family recreation, because it has fresh air and cool panorama. Hills and rice field surround Flora Hill, so it has beautiful scenery. The visitors can take pictures here with beautiful background of real nature nuance. The visitors will find various kinds of flowers here. They are; Anthurium, Aglonema, Orchid, Rose, Adenium, etc.

Ranu Grati Lake

The lake occupies about 197 hectares area located on the way between Surabaya – Ponorogo or it takes about 90 minutes drive from Surabaya. It is located at Grati Tunon village, Grati subdistrict. It's about 16 km east of Pasuruan. The lake has mount Tengger’s beautiful scenery. According to a legend, the origin of Grati Lake resembles to the origin of Pening Lake.

It has available recreational facilities such as boats and floating fishing net pond (keramba apung) used for breeding fresh water fish such as gurami, mujair, nila merah, etc. Ranu lake produces lempuk fish (a kind of small anchovy), which only can be found in this place.

The visitor can enjoy their time in this lake by doing some activity such as; fishing, walking around, and the others. This lake is the biggest lake in Pasuruan and often visited by local tourists, just to show the fisherman harvest their fishes.

Tirto Waluyojati

Tirto Waluyojati Pool is located in Klepu village, Sooko district, that is located approximately 30 km next east the Ponorogo city. This tourism object is one of the pilgrimage places of Catholics in Java island to honour Mother Maria. On May 27 1988 by Mrg. A. J. Dibjakaryana, the Surabaya Bishop declared it named “Sendang Waluyojatiningsih”.
As the pilgrimage and praying, Maria Fatimah / Sendang Waluyojatiningsih cave was completed with the Field of Praying place.

Compared with Maria Lourdes, Puh Sarang cave pilgrimage, the nature in Klepu is very supportive, very beautiful, with the pine forest background, original water pool. Beside have pilgrimage, the visitor also can go to Ngebel lake that not far from the pilgrimage location.

Ngebel Lake

It is called Ngebel Lake because it is in Ngebel subdistrict territory. It is located about 24 km to the north-east of Ponogoro, Ngebel lake is in the slope of Wilis mountain with 734 metre height on the sea and the temperature 22 to 32 celsius. With the wide of surface about 1.5 km, Ngebel lake surrounded by the road along 5 km.

This lake has an amazing panorama, cool air with the maiden nature condition that kept one million potentials to be dug up. We also could met various fruits like: durian, mangosteens, pundung, etc. In the lake also spread various fishes, one them is the variety fishes that has protected. It is Hampala fish or the local inhabitants named Ngongok fish. For that purposes, it also available accommodation facilities that already for the visitor who want to spend the night. The facilities is managed by the Regional Government and private enterprise.
According to the developing legend in the community, Ngebel lake was formed based on the story of a dragon snake, named “Baru Klinting”.

When the snake take a meditating and unintentionally he was cut-piece by the community around to be eaten. Mysteriously the snake changed into a child who afterwards visited the community and made a contest to repeal the rib that was transfixed by him into the land. Not even one succeeded in carrying it out.

Afterwards he repealed this rib, and from this rib hole went out water that afterwards became the big pool that welled up and became Ngebel lake. It seems Ngebel lake had important role in the history of Ponorogo Regency, because one of the founders of Ponorogo regency, Batoro Katong, before doing the greatness Islam religion in Ponogoro regency had clear himself in a pool near to Ngebel lake. At this time, it is known as pool / Kucur Batoro.

Bengawan Solo River

This longest river in Java flows along the eastern edge of the town from its source in the lime stones hill of the south, near East Java border to its mouth nearby Surabaya, on the Java sea. Regretfully, the river is now shallow it is not navigable anymore. But in the past it was an important link between Solo and the north cost of East Java.

It length is 600 km flowing in 2 provinces which are Central Java Province and East Java Province with the irrigation width 16.000 km2, was the biggest and the main river basin area. It rises on the slope of Mount Lawu volcano (10,712 feet [3,265 m]) and the southern limestone range (Sewu Mountains) and flows north, then east to discharge into the Java Sea at a point opposite Madura Island, northwest of Surabaya. In recent 30 years development of irrigation facility at the Bengawan Solo river area have reach a significant level of development. This was mark by the completed of irrigation building, which still in progress or even have been built such as reservoir, dam, dike, irrigation net, and others. Investment have been spent to reach this development level is very big. Those buildings have functions as a flood controller, Hydraulic Power Generator, water supply for farming, industry, drink water, fishery, and others.

There is a well-known song 'Bengawan Solo' composed by Mr. Gesang. In the central Javanese city of Solo, a statue of Gesang Martohartono looks over the gently flowing Bengawan Solo, or Solo River. It was the famous Indonesian singer-songwriter Gesang, who composed the celebrated Indonesian melody "Bengawan Solo" during World War II -- when the country was under Japanese occupation. The song describes the legendary river in a poetic and nostalgic way, that it is surrounded by mountains, its sources are near the city of Surakarta, that it ends in the sea, and that the merchant class always makes use of it. It is in the local Keroncong style, a popular folk style with influences from Portuguese. The Japanese, who occupied the country during World War II, brought the song with them to Japan after returning from the war. There, and also in the rest of Asia and later worldwide, the song became very famous.

Jatijajar Cave

Jatijajar cave is located about 49 km west of Kebumen, or 20 km from Gombong. It is the most interesting cave in Central Java with its stalactite and stalagmite. Inside the cave, there is Kamandaka statue, which has its own legend. The legend inside the cave describing about the legend of Raden Kamandaka or lutung kasarung legend, which this story is represented by statues inside of cave.

It is believe that water from water source inside cave can make some one well preserved. The length of this cave is about 250 meters. To reach the location there is available transportation such as angkot (a small bus), and also some representative hotels and restaurants. The name of Jatijajar is come when there were two of twin jati trees growths in mouth of cave in the first time founded. The cave complex is equipped by Dinosaurs statue discharges water from his mouth, whereas water comes from sources inside cave every day. There are also another beautiful cave in the area of Jatijajar cave, such as, Intan Cave and Dempok cave completed by a pleasure park Also there is park available, with the name Taman Kera as many of monkey statues in there. Inside mouth of cave there are many stalactites and stalagmites, a natural process since thousands years ago.

Telemoyo Mountain

what about Telemoyo mountain ? In the seventies a telecommunication relay station was built on the top of this 1894 m mountain, and to reach it a 7 km road was carved in its side all to the top. So you can drive there, although the road is narrow and in some places in poor repair.

When the weather is clear, from the top of Telemoyo you have a magnificent view on the surrounding valleys and neighbouring mountains: Mt Merbabu, Mt Ungaran and Mt Andong.

At the start of the road there is a gate, and you have to pay Rp 5,000 for a car. You are warned not to leave your car unattended and to be back not later than 5 pm. If you meet a car from the other direction, you may have to do some backing up, because at several spots the road is too narrow to pass each other. Last time we went there on a Sunday, and the gate of the telecommunication station was closed. That meant also backing down 100 m, to reach a spot where we could turn the car around.

Directions: From Salatiga take the road to Kopeng. At Wates village, where the road turns sharply left, take the road going down on your right, following a sign saying 'Wisata Kali Pancur'. After 3.4 km a road coming from Kopeng joins in at your left. 300 m from this junction, at Pandean village, a sign 'Telemoyo' points right. Here you find the gate of the road up Telemoyo.

Sekar Langit Waterfall

Sekar Langit is Javanese words meaning Flower of the Sky. The name clearly explain beauty of this waterfall. Falling from 25m height, the water seems to flourish into white lily. Completed with camping ground, this is a very desirable place for outdoor activities including outbound management training and team building.

Keraton - Palace Of Yogyakarta

The palace court with its grand and elegant Javanese architecture lies in the center of the city. Prince Mangkubumi founded the palace in 1755. The Prince then was called Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I and he chose the right location of the compound between Winongo River and Code River. The palace stretches out from north to south.

The front yard is called alun-alun Utara (the North Square), and the back yard is called Alun-alun Selatan (the South Square). The layout of the buildings shows that the Palace, the commemorative column and Mount Merapi lie in one line. The palace meeting hall is called Pagelaran, where formal meetings of palace officials are held, while the "Manguntur Tingkil" hall is the place where the Sultan is seated.

The visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of the kraton in former times by visiting the life-size diorama of wedding ceremonies on the palace meeting hall, performed by puppets, which are intentionally arranged to create such an atmosphere. Sets of Javanese musical instruments, antiques and heirlooms have made the palace of Yogyakarta worth to visit. Many sets of gamelan music instruments, antiques, and heirlooms make the palace of Yogyakarta the most interesting tourist attractions in Yogyakarta. The palace of Ngayogyokarto Hadiningrat is now the dwelling place of Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and the family.

West of the palace, there is Water Castle, built in 1758 by the prince, Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. The Water Castle is located in the older part of the city within walking distance from the Bird Market. Part of the pleasure garden and castle is at present no more than an intriguing collection of ruins, pools, arches and underground passages enclosed by massive walls, however, the central courtyard with the nymph-baths has been restored. A number of batik workshops line the avenue leading to the pleasure garden's entrance.

Mendut Temple

Mendut Temple is the older temple than Borobudur Temple. There are stories for children on its walls. It is located 1 km to the east of Pawon temple. There are magnificent statues of Buddha inside the temples. For Waisak ceremony, the offering and the praying start in this temple.

Mendut Temple is frequently used to celebrate the Waisak day every May full moon and the pilgrims from Indonesia and all parts of the world come to this ceremony. Its architecture is square, and have an entrance on its steps. Its roof is also square and terraced. There are stupas (= bell-shaped structures) on it.

Banggai Archipelago

This archipelago is a real good area to do various activities of water like swimming and dive. In this water territory area the tourist are possibly to see dugong or sea cow and even whale. Although its panorama is very good but the accommodation facility in this island still limited but the tourist admit of lodge in houses property of resident

Batu Daka Island

Bata Daka Island is the biggest island and easiest to reached in Togean archipelago. In Batu Daka Island there are two villages that is Bomba and Wakai. Bomba village, they are the settlement area, which located in northwest back part of Togean archipelago. Bomba is the most beautiful place in Togean area and not crowded, hence most tourists' pass

this place is just for towards main purpose that is to Wakai in Kadidiri Island. However Bomba is interesting place. Here, the visitor can swim and snorkeling in good location. You also can visit bat cave, which located near to Bomba but to visit this place required by guide.



Togean Archipelago

Foreign tourist, who is visit Togean archipelago for the first time, will feel fall in love with its rock islands beauty in this place. The beauties of Togean nature make many tourists finally choose to remain longer from initially plan. Punti Kayu Natural Pine Forest

This recently built recreational complex covers 50 hectares area, consist of four parts: an amusement park, a recreation park, a natural forest, and a man-made lake. In this complex are to be found a children's playground, a cultural park, a souvenirs shop, restaurants and an information booth.

Because of its proximity to the capital and easy accessibility, this complex actually caters mainly to the local inhabitants of Palembang city, however, international tourists may enjoy passing a calm day here to watch urbanites amuse themself.

Curup Tenang Waterfall

It is the highest waterfall in South Sumatra, located near Bedegung village in Tanjung Agung district, about 56 kilometers South of Muara Enim Regency. Rich in the number of small as well as big rivers flowing through this province, waterfalls of various sizes come with them too.

Tenang_ waterfall where the water smashes down from 90 meters height into a deep pool and further downstream in a strong current. It can reach by public transportation and takes 2 hours from Palembang, however, less by private car. The Muara Enim regency, two hours from Palembang, is a land of rivers and waterfalls.



Putri Cave

The cave is situated at the edge of Padang Windu Village, Pengandonan district, about 35 Km from Baturaja. It is 156 m long and 8-20 m wide. The maximum height is 20 m. There are many stalactites and stalagmites and a stream in the cave, which empties into Ogan River. The rocks can be very slippery once in a while, so good shoes with a good profile are not to be forgotten.

Guides with lights and torches guide the visitors and give detailed information (mostly in Indonesian) about legends, which are strongly connected, to the caves. The main cave is about 150 meters long; the widest point is about 15 to 20 meters. In some places the ceiling is 12 meters high, on other places only 1,5 meters. The ceiling is scattered with hundreds of bats; when light disturbs them, they will fly out all together and just miss the visitors. To enter the deeper parts of the caves you have to be slender enough to pass very narrow points. Legendary stories tell about a king which had his palace in this cave, and every room has it's own story.

Serelo Hill

Serelo is a hill that located about 20 km from Lahat city. Beneath the hill, there is a special complex for taming, training and educating elephant. There are about 25 elephant, which have been trained to show off some attractions to the visitor/ tourist.



Bukit Siguntang

Bukit Siguntang of about 27 meters high from the sea level lies at the western part of Palembang city. During Sriwijaya era it became a holy place for a Buddhists. Based on the historical event, there lived, about 1000 Buddha monks on the hill. Up to now Bukit Siguntang hill has still been considered as a sacred place.

In 1920, it had found Buddha statue in Amarawati style and supposed from 11th centuries A.D. This statue put in Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Museu, beside Kuto Besak Fortress. There are sacred graves on the top of Bukit Siguntang. One of them is Sigentar Alam grave that become the oath place of the pilgrimage. According to the legend, Sigentar Alam is a King in Sriwijaya period. Nowadays, Bukit Siguntang has beautiful scenery.

Sembilang National Park

In the eastern part of the region there is a 45.000 square hectares Sembilang Wildlife Reserve. Sembilang National Park was setup in 2003 in southeastern Sumatra. Over 350,000 hectares of peat swamp, freshwater swamp and mangroves, the park is host to a few critically endangered Sumatran tigers.

Sembilang is such a paradise for various kinds of protected birds like lesser adjutant stork, milky stork, spot billed pelican, wild duck, eagle, hornbill, etc. There are also two kinds of Sumatra crocodile, i.e. crocodilus porosus and tomistoma slegeli. In Sembilang river there also lives irrawadi dolphins and humpback dolphins.

Sembilang National Park with a total area of approx. 206 ha, is also one of the largest mangrove forests in the Indo-Malayan region and one of the widest mangrove zones in the world, in some areas extending inland up to 35 km. The mangroves provide feeding, nesting and roosting areas for many globally threatened species of wildlife, and are one of the most important stopover sites for migratory waders in the East Area Flyway (up to one million birds). The shallow mangrove zone in the area is highly productive, and more than 8.000 fishermen and their families find full time employment in the coastal fisheries.

Napal Licin Cave

Napal Licin is a cave of stalactites and stalagmites. To visit the place we have to take boat to upstream Rawas River. It is a new developing tourism object in Musi Rawas. This is the new tourism object for the visitor who came to Musi Rawas.

If we interested to make an adventure, try to visit Kerinci Seblat National Park. There are many kind of flora and fauna there, that cannot found in other area. We can find Rafflesia flower and also hundreds of birds, such as; crested parrot, and the other.

Raya Lake

Raya Lake is located near Karang Anyar village in Muara Rupit district, 80kms apart from Lubuk Linggau. It is accessible by public or private vehicles within 90 minutes from Lubuk Linggau through Sumatra highway. Dense underbrush and plantations belonging to the natives, such as cloves, rubber, coconut and bananas, surround the 100 square hectares lake.



Kemaro Island

Kemaro Island is a tiny delta of Musi River, located about 6 kilometers downstream of Ampera Bridge. There is a Chinese vihara (klenteng Hok Tjing Rio) on it. Kemaro Island lies between the industrial areas of Sriwijaya Fertilizer Plant and Pertamina Oil Refinery in Plaju and Gerong River. Forty kilometers from Palembang, Kamero Island is a popular recreation site in the middle of Musi River.

On the island there is a Buddha temple that often visited by Buddhists to pray or to visit the graves. Beside that, there is also mean of foretelling one's life and marriage. A great religious event Cap Go Meh is held in Kemaro Island every Imlek New Year.

Kemaro Island, a small island with a Buddhist temple and the grave of a Palembang princess. The legend tells that the princess was sent to marry the king of china. When she arrived, boats with big pottery pots were sent ashore. The king expected gold and opened them, but the first one only had vegetables. He ordered the other pots to be thrown in the river. When the princess saw that happening, she jumped in the river and drowned. Several of the pots broke, and they indeed contained gold. The princess was buried on the island, and the temple, which is built next to it, is said to bring luck.

Mount Dempo

Mount Dempo is one of the natural tourism objects in Pagaralam. It is the highest peak in South Sumatra and might be reached directly from Palembang by car, after spending 6 hours more or less for about 295 kilometers. Grown in northern Sumatra (Indonesia) Highlands. The liquor tends to be light with a hint of body and meatiness.

Dempo Volcano is located at Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province while little part belongs to Muna Regency of Bengkulu Province. Geographically, it lies at 04° 02'' SL and 103° 08'' EL. The volcano has two peaks called Dempo and Merapi. The highest peak names Merapi with 3173 m high above sea level, while Dempo is about 3049 m. Dempo is a prominent 3173-m-high strata volcano that rises above the Pasumah Plain of SE Sumatra. Remnants of 7 craters are found at or near the summit, with volcanism migrating to the WNW with time. The historically active summit crater of Mount Dempo contains a 400-m-wide lake, located at the NW end of the crater complex. Historical eruptions have been restricted to small-to-moderate explosive activity that produced ash fall near the volcano. The big city close to the volcano is Pagaralam. Flight from Jakarta or Bandung to Palembang is the easiest way to reach this city. From Palembang the trip can be continued by car to Pagaralam or Dempo Plantation. Dempo Tea Plantation is the highest village about 1650 m. From this village, visitors start to climb and usually spend the night at Sawah Highland (3000 m) where lots of springs running into.
